Potted Nasturtiums were grown either under full sunlight, half-sunlight, or shade to observe difference in plant height, dry weight, flowering responses and leaf-chlorophyll contents, etc.
The growth regulators such as B-9 and gibberellin were also tested to see any modified influence with them on the growth behaviors. Full sunlight reduced plant height, while the flower number increased. The effect of gibberellin closely resembled to those grown in the shade, while plant height under the shade showed much taller appearance than those under either the full or half sunlight, and there was reduced number of flowers.
The dwarfing effect of B-9 spray applications on the plant was more striking under the shade than under the sunlight.
